A year or more ago, in a pre-pandemic time, I photographed an amazing theatre production Ivan & The Dogs at the British School Manila. I was thinking of it today and how it resonates with me during the pandemic. It is a story about social isolation and loss, of loneliness and vulnerability. But it is also a story about courage, hope, about the power of friendship and loyalty, about taking care of your loved ones and sticking together. In the end, the darkness passes and we emerge into a better world. So, to all of you journeying though this most unsettling of years, hang in there. We’ll make it.
I am currently unavailable for work while I relocate to Mongolia. My expected arrival is August 2021. I’m super excited to be relocating to such an exciting country but sad to be leaving the Philippines. Life isn’t a straight line and we must follow the path. Once on the ground I shall be focusing on NGO social media content creation and communications strategies in both photography and video. Take care everyone. Be well - Mark.
NGOs need our help. Many of us are fortunate. We have journeyed to where we are today on a path that is generally healthy, safe and well educated. This places us in a unique position. If we collaborate we can make positive, sustainable change. Through compelling photography and short, issue or character focused films, we can highlight the human stories and show the world why this matters. Strong imagery lingers in the mind and affects change. If you are working in the humanitarian and non-profit sphere, and have a story that needs telling, Mark would like to hear from you.
Families are the hub. Families are our joy, a matrix that binds us to more than ourselves, a rescue ship in a storm, and the light that shines brightest in our eyes. Yes, families are imperfect, but they are our roots, and they exist on many levels, across generations. But they grow so quickly! What moment in their current lives would you most like to keep forever? Do you need to catch them one last time before they fly the nest? Time passes too quickly, doesn't it? We will have a fun, relaxed session in a documentary style that captures those little moments we cherish so much. Let's talk!
Teenage Kicks is of course a classic tune and a great way for us to describe high school portraiture. Is your high schooler preparing to fly the nest? It is the end of an era. To all juniors & seniors, I ask you, what's your special? Is it moody & broody, just staring straight down the barrel, or athletic, performances, dynamic? These last few years of high school are also one of the most insane, intense, creative, collaborative era's of our lives, and anything is possible. This time next year you'll be on another continent, and you want to be saying, "that was the time of my life."
